Social Housing Issue? Know your rights, know how to complain.

Know your rights

We support the Government’s Make Things Right campaign which encourages residents living in social housing who have issues with their home to know their rights, know how to report issues and know how to complain so they feel empowered that their voice will be heard to help get their home or service related issue resolved.

The Make Things Right campaign highlights to residents that social housing landlords like Watmos Community Homes are responsible for fixing issues in your home including damp and mould, leaks, broken locks and other general repairs. As your landlord, we can help to make changes to your home if you have a disability. We can also help and support you with anti-social behaviour, like noisy neighbours.

We are committed to providing Watmos residents with a home that is safe, secure, and well maintained with excellent services, so it is important that you tell us when things go wrong, so we can investigate what has happened and act to make things right.

To get an issue sorted, follow these 3 steps:

Step 1. Report the issue to your landlord
You should continue to report any issues or disrepair to us.

Report a repair

Report damp and mould

Report anti social behaviour

You can report any issue to us in many ways, including online, by phone, or in person. www.watmos.org.uk/contact-us

We will do our best to help resolve the issue. But, if that doesn’t work…

Step 2. Complain through your landlord’s complaints process

You can get more information about Watmos’ complaints process at www.watmos.org.uk/comments-compliments-complaints

Then, if things remain unresolved or you’re not happy with the final response from your landlord...

Step 3. Escalate your complaint to the Housing Ombudsman

Advice about contacting the Housing Ombudsman

The Housing Ombudsman is a free, independent, and impartial service that looks into complaints about social housing and landlords.

You can contact them if you’ve made a complaint to us, and you’d like some independent advice and guidance.

We know that everyone deserves a safe and secure home. Know your rights.
